GPG SPECIALS OF DECEMBER

Back to another of our monthly releases, time to talk about our unique supplier of products. I’m pretty happy of the quality and innovation of GPG so no complains, but if other want to contact me for testing his products or whatever I will be pleased to hear any other propose…

Now let’s see the winners of the month of December, as a reminder we have three categories:

  1. The Smart
  2. The original
  3. The best

This month was quite easy difficult as not so many products were released :) , I’m joking, as usual it was quite difficult except the original.

 

We will begin with:

The Smart

In my section “the smartest idea of the month” it’s not for a device nor a cable this month. It’s for the best soft created. FractalizeR’s soft for screen and cables compatibility! Never seen before and simple as well as useful! In my opinion it’s a must to be here!

I think that both, GPG and FractalizeR did a great job, I hope they will work someday with the design of my logos :) Time for the second section

 

The Original

I’m getting really happy with the result of creating new entries with  Live writer, did you see how cool it looks with the reflect effect!

The most original of this month it’s…

GPGXWARE

And now it’s when you say, ok, go to sleep or to see a doctor… NO! This is really original design, The pic it’s showing the part that we never see in a box the lower part. And this box it’s so original that you can custom easily to adapt your needs.In the process of purchase you select color of the box, then use you are going to give to the box (Use as Infinity, UST, SPT… as my box died or as I want to do my own pack). And you can purchase the smartcard separately.

At this moment yes, it’s quite original, but the smartcard comes in or what?

This is part of the design of this box. In the lower part we can see as in the picture a little window with GPG logo (Nice detail!) and you can remove it easily and insert your smartcard! No more bad card readers!

The Best

GPGLab

Yes, best of this month it’s GPGLab, your wife, mother, sister, mate, partner, costumer will never see any mess in your lab or store. With this easy but never did idea you can easily have your cables close to you and perfectly ordered.

 

Last time I saw something so original was a friend that put his cables in DVD cases… Nice job GPG!

Reviewing GPG Interface (I)

At last I could find a moment to write about it…

In this first part of the review I’m going to talk about the external information of GPG Interface

What does GPG Interface offers us that we may not have before?

This device include the possibility to have 4 unlocking devices in one. By this way you don’t need 10 or 20 different boxes as you can have 4 in 1. Another possibility can be use GPG Interface with UFS and GPG with JAF and by this way you may have 8 in 2 more or less.

This device it’s the evolution of Unibox device. It uses a different FTDI chip for each socket and pair with the inserted smartcard. As all the unlocking devices it’s based on FTDI and this means that using a programmer soft like MProg you can change the functionallity to other FTDI device. That will be the second part of the review.

As you can see you have 3 sockets and 4 smartcard readers.

  • 3 Under de black cover
  • 1 in the back part with the switch

In the device that I’m testing all the smartcards are for AXALTO cards, which means JAF and other devices based in JCOP are not allowed in this version.

In the front part we have 3 sockets RJ45 each one it’s special…From left to right:

  • UST Pro socket(1): has it’s own pinout for working with UST device but we will see that we can change the FTDI and using an adapter (or the own UST cables) use NSPro without any problem.
  • Rocker Dongle socket(2): based on Universal Pinout it will be detected as RockerBox and, of course, using original drivers it’s recognised with no problems
  • Infinity, Cruiser, SETool(3): This is a pure FTDI that emulates a COMPort, so it’s working with no problems with Cruiser-SEtool and Infinity.

As you have seen I put some numbers, this is simple as you can see in some pictures but, if you still some doubts let’s solve them.

GPG Interface uses a switch to change from one interface to another. You have FOUR positions. Each position it’s related with one Smartcard so the schema will be the following:

  1. USTPro which it’s linked to Socket (1) and the inner smartcard reader with USTPro name, obviously.
  2. RockerDongle linked with Socket (2) and the inner smartcard reader with the proper name.
  3. InfinityBox linked to Socket (3) and the inner smartcard reader with the INFINITY name.
  4. Cruiser or SETool linked to Socket (3) and the outer smartcard reader with the proper name.

As you can see the unique thing that it’s different it’s position (4). Which uses Socket (3).

A question that I heard many time it’s regarding drivers problems. Easy, this device uses the same drivers as your original metal-plastic box. The drivers provided by the developer suits this interface so, no new drivers are needed nor additional info, if this device has webpage it’s just as explanatory of the product.

BESTS BY GPG IN NOVEMBER

This month gave us many surprises regarding new interesting products by GPG. We will talk about the most interesting/popular as I got around 15 possible talkative things so I reduce it a little bit to three categories

The Original

GPG1

In my opinion this is a really nice work of design never seen before. Instead of the usual all black cable colours GPG brought us colour to the cables and now they release a cables edition based on different flags. All this would be nothing if cables quality would be bad, but cables quality keeps untouched. So now, we can also collect other countries flags :)

I liked this as the original idea

The Smart

It’s a nice way to have free room for new cables, also will help us to keep the material without messing around. It’s the smart idea of the month!

The Best

GPG3

This time as it was impossible to give it to just one product so the decision was to give it to:

  • Constant cable updates such as X3, N97 mini and N72
  • Best idea such as the stickers for SmartCards and also for Unlocked || Repaired
